The short version

Your training lives on your phone. A copy of your profile and your XP also lives on our server, so that signing in on a new phone gives you your rank back instead of an empty app. Your meals and your conversations with the coach never leave the device at all.

What stays on your phone, and only there

Every meal you have logged, everything you have said to the coach, your profile picture, and a parent’s email address if you gave one during setup. None of that is ever sent anywhere. Delete the app and it is gone. You can take a copy of everything at any time from Export my data.

What is on your account

Your name, your answers from setup, your XP and the list of sessions and drills you have finished. This is the part that makes an account worth having: put an email and a password on it and you can sign in on a new phone and carry on where you were. Nobody else can read it. Deleting your account deletes it.

What gets sent, and when

When you ask the coach something, your question, the conversation so far, and a short description of your position, level and equipment are sent so the answer fits you. When you send a clip, the video itself never leaves your phone: still frames are cut from it on the device and only those frames are sent.

Who sees it

The coach runs on Anthropic’s Claude. Your question and frames go to them to be answered and come straight back. They are not used to train anything. We do not sell data, we do not share it with advertisers, and there is no advertising in this app.

Your profile picture

If you set one, it is squared off and kept on your phone, and the leaderboard is the only place it appears. It is checked once, when you choose it, to make sure it is not something that has no business on an app used by under-18s. That check is the only time it leaves the phone, no copy is kept at the other end, and nobody looks at it by hand.

Other people in your clips

Match footage has other people in it, and most of them are somebody else’s child. Only send footage you filmed or have permission to use. The coach is instructed to look at you and to say nothing about anybody else in the frame.

How the app is used

We record how the app gets used so we can see where it is confusing and fix it: which screens you open, how far you get through setup, whether a session was finished. These are counts and timings, never anything you typed. They are kept on our own server and also sent to PostHog, who process them for us.

Recordings of the screen

Some sessions include a masked recording of the screen. Every piece of text you type and every picture is blanked out on the phone before anything is sent, so what we see is the layout and where you tapped, never what you wrote. The coach is never recorded at all. None of this is used for advertising and none of it is sold.

Your age

Touchline is for players of 13 and over. If you say you are younger than that, setup stops and no account is made: it is not a warning you can click past.

If you are 13, 14 or 15

Setup asks for a parent or guardian’s email address and the date you gave it. That is a record that somebody responsible for you was told what this app does. It is kept on your phone with the rest of your profile and it is never sent anywhere, so nothing is emailed to them and nobody here can read it. Deleting the app removes it.

If you are a parent

Everything about your child is on their phone. Deleting the app removes all of it, and Profile, then Setup, then Clear everything does the same without deleting the app. If you would rather we did it, or you have a question, write to us at the address at the bottom of this page.

Deleting everything

Profile, then Setup, then Clear everything and start again. It removes your profile, your XP, your meals and your coach conversations from the phone. It cannot be undone.

Getting in touch

Write to platypus1827@gmail.com about anything: a question about this policy, data you want removed, a parent asking about their child’s account, or something in the app being wrong. There is a Get in touch button in the app under Profile that writes the email for you. A person reads them.
